So much to do in Sussex

Winter is drawing to a close, the evenings are finally beginning to get lighter and with any luck the rain might stop about any time now, and you know what this means... it's time to get out and about and stop hibernating in your Winter hideaway!

To make this sometimes painful transition easier you'll be pleased to hear that there's loads to do in Sussex this Spring with something for everyone in the family.

The more stressed out of you (probably the mums) might be interested in the Mind, Body & Soul Fayre at Worthing's Charmandean Centre on Sunday 2nd March. With a huge range of holistic treatments, demonstrations and workshops covering everything from foot massage to Chakra Balancing and Reiki. Doors open at 10.30am, admission £2 for adults, under 15's are free.

Also in Worthing through February and March is the Music & Arts Festival which runs classes on dance, piano, singing, speech and drama and guitar. There are literally hundreds of classes and courses to suit all levels so if you'd like to take to the stage or just simply watch some great performances why not pop along?

Chichester Cathedral run a series of free lunchtime concerts throughout March with performances taking place on Tuesdays during term time at 1.10pm. The concerts last for approximately 50 mins and can be enjoyed with a coffee for no extra charge. There is a retiring collection at the end of each service but visitors can come and go as they please, some even bring a sandwich!

The 24th annual Sussex Beer & Cider Festival 6th to 8th March at Hove Town Hall sees nearly 240 beers and some 60 ciders and perries on sale! There is also a food bar on the balcony serving hot and cold food plus a veggie option. To sample some (we hope not all!) of the many beers, ales and ciders just buy your entrance ticket, pick up your glass on entry, buy some beer tokens and get sampling!

You might feel the need to get some fresh air after a long Winter inside and what better way than a guided walk through the magnificent city of Chichester? Tours start from the Chichester Museum in Tower Street and begin at 2pm on Tuesdays and 11am on Saturdays with walks costing £4.50 each. Click here for more information.

The National Trust are hosting a number of lectures this March at Uppark House on the South Downs which include coffee at 10.30am, the lecture then a spot of lunch at 12.30pm. on Tue 4th March: The man who built Uppark, Wed 5th March: Royal Couturier to the Queen, Thur 6th March: Carry on Corporal, Tue 11th March: The Crown Jewels, Wed 12th March: Mary, Queen of Scots, Thur 13th March: Famous & Infamous. Dust off that running gear that you put away last september and join the Victory Athletic Club in Selsey on Sunday 16th March for an invigorating 10k run. Starting at The Academy and taking in parts of Bunn Leisure as well as the seafront and Selsey town this is a great way to blow away those Winter cobwebs and get moving for a fitter and healthier lifestyle. Entrance costs £10 for UKA/ARC Affiliated Club members and £12 for Unaffiliated Runners. Click here for more.

Keeping on the running theme, there's also the Sainsbury's Sport Relief Games, featuring the Mile, plus new Swimathon and Cycle events in Brighton on 23rd March. For just £6 per adult and £3 per child or £15 for a family of 4 (2 adults and 2 children under 16) you can join in the fun and raise some money for charity at the same time.

Now you've lost all that weight it's time to put it back on with a visit to The Chocolate Festival at The Brighton Dome. On 29th & 30th March you can indulge in everything chocolatey including: The Tasting lounge, The Cocoa Spa, The Chocolate Cafe, Brownie Trail, Easter Zone, The Chocolate Market, Tea & Coffee Zone and The Health Zone, each bringing a new chocolatey experience that will have you seeing the world of chocolate in a whole new light.

So, from holistic therapies and musical performance to city walks and beer tasting, from running and Sports Relief to National Trust lectures and chocolate heaven there's absolutely loads to do in Sussex this March. What are you waiting for? Get that diary out, get planning and get out and about!
